Anniversary Glam: Beauty Details

FindlayHouse Danny and Cara on their Anniversary

This past weekend was nothing short of AMAZING! My honey and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary - in style.

A Few Confession(s):

Danny is a Renaissance man and his taste in clothing is impeccable.  He has a distinct style that always comes off as polished, even if he's in jeans and a t-shirt. I on the other hand am still coming into my own.
A tomboy at heart, I typically go for whats comfortable Before I go for what's fashionable
To be honest there have been many times when I struggle with what to where because I'm not sure I'll be able to match Danny's fly.
Sometimes I enjoy getting dolled all the way up, other times, I have to work myself up to that point.

But this anniversary weekend, I nailed it!

It started with Friday.

Hair Regimen:

I washed my hair using Shea Moisture's Jamaican Castor Oil Clarifying Shampoo. My hair loves Shea Moisture products. [I like this clarifying shampoo because it's gentle enough to be used once a week and it doesn't strip my hair.]

Then I deep conditioned my hair - I mixed Pantene Pro-V's Nature Fusion Pure & Strong Strengthening Conditioner with Olive Oil, heated up the mixture for about 30 secs in the microwave and then slathered it on my hair and put a plastic cap on.

After about an hour with the conditioner in my hair and accomplishing a few tasks around the house, I washed it out.

I used my hands to squeeze out some of the water so my hair wasn't dripping but I didn't towel dry my hair. With my hair still wet I put castor oil on my scalp and put a generous amount of Shea Moisture's Jamaican Castor Oil Leave-In Conditioner.

[More often than not I put my hair up usually in a pineapple because anything else is typically a struggle and takes forever to do. BUT  because I wanted to wear my hair out on Sunday I decided to go with flat twists so I could do a flat twist out Sunday night. It took about an hour and a half to do the flat twists in my hair.]

I took my time and used my fingers to part and detangle my hair, and of course to flat twist it. I set my hair using Eco Styler's Olive Oil Gel. I prefer Eco style gel to any other kind of setting lotion or gel because it has a good hold but doesn't leave my hair crunchy and doesn't flake.

I rocked the flat twists all weekend - and didn't take them out until Sunday night before our big anniversary dinner date.

The best part about this flat twist out is that is held up even in the rain. It rained all day and night Sunday and we didn't have an umbrella. But even with the wind and rain my twist out held up. In fact, we didn't take any pictures before going to dinner, so all my pics were taken after exposing my hair to the elements.

Natural hair win!

Getting Dressed Sunday Night

I took the twists out in about 15 minutes. I kept make-up very simple. I don't wear a lot of make-up so I'm no expert.  Basic Mascara. An old Gun Metal eye shadow duo from H.I.P. and my favorite red lip gloss, Perfect Red by Nyx. [The make-up artist for my wedding, Mel put me on to it. I have the same tube from the wedding, lol]

Add the joy of the Lord, the love of a good man, a banging dress with some killer heels, and a sassy attitude and there you have it - Anniversary Glam. [:winks atchu:] Oh yea...I was FEELIN' myself - somebody's got a HOT wife - ijs LOL
